Happy New Year!
Many changes have been taking place at Festival Opera over the past several months, and it's time to slow down, strategize and reformulate. It's time for an "Entracte"!
The 2012 season will not showcase a full-fledged production on stage at the Lesher Center for the Arts, but will see productions of a couple of smaller chamber productions in other venues. Further, there is a plan underway to feature an onstage Benefit Concert at the Lesher Center showcasing arias, duets, trios and several choruses from past productions. This vital Benefit Concert is slated for the evening of July 14th. In addition, there are plans to present another Open Chorus Rehearsal and, hopefully, bring back Opera In The Park. If these events are successful, the hope is that Festival Opera will return to full productions in 2013.
If you are interested in participating in this important year of transition at Festival Opera, I would welcome hearing from you. Auditions for the 2012 Festival Opera Chorus will likely take place in early March and rehearsals will begin in late March or early April on Sunday afternoons and Monday evenings.
I look forward to hearing from you!
